I have just downloaded a theme v2 but have no idea what to do now to get it to work with my site? Any help here will be much appreciated.

Upload the theme to /xoopsroot/themes/ directory. Then go to Admin / System / Settings / General settings and select your default theme.

first upload the new theme into the root path of XOOPS folder -themes after you uploaded the new theme login to your site go in administration panel system-preferences -general settings there you will see:
Default theme
Selectable themes
select there the new theme you uploaded save the changes go back to your site and your done!

cheers guys, this worked for me but i have 4 themes listed so i wanted to take a look at each one of them, my first change worked but every other time i try a different theme when i goto view my page it stayed with the first change even though the theme has changed in my admin section, Any ideas? i've hit refresh and cleared Internet Explorer but still the same

Try deleting the content of templates_c directory.

because the theme use the default theme...

try to change the default theme...

or enable the theme block
