are there any good chat modules around.

seems the ones in the modules repository all have one problem with me... they will not work - no matter what i try.

i follow the readme ( if it has one and i can read it ( english))

if not is not a big deal...

FlashChat is the best one I know - quick, lots of options, pretty fun to play with. Having said that its a little bit harder than getting most modules to work. Not bad, though. 30 minutes as oppposed to 15 (and that's for someone who doesn't do a lot of this stuff.

Xoops POPCHAT module also works fairly well and has some nice features

I agree the latest version of Xoopopchat is quite good. Check the dev's own website for updates. Optimistic they will add private chat room capability soon.
