I don't know I did wrong, but when I select "View Account" (user.php), I get a blank view, without any menus or anything.

In the same time, the "Edit Account" (editUser.php), seems to work fine.

I'm on the latest Xoops, with the default theme.

I think the was working, although I can't remember when I last checked it.

Did I mess up some security?

update system, then it should work, I had the same problem

Could you be a bit more specific?

I tried to go to Administration>Modules>System and then update. The module updated, although of course there was nothing to update. Still does not work.

sorry, also weird, you updated the system module as in: you went to modules, clicked the system update botton on the right hand side of it? as that is what I meant.

I had the same problem, saw some thread on here, did that, and it worked for me.
