Hello,

I'm planning on doing a fresh install of XOOPS, but since I know I won't be needing the login system anymore I was wondering if it'd be possible to remove it alltogether. I want to still be able to login as administrator but I don't want people to register and also I don't want the login pages to be available to users.

Is this possible with XOOPS?

Thanks.

Yes it is possible. Just disable the login block in XOOPS block Admin page.

Then when you need to log in just type:

Quote:
http://www.ursite.com/user.php

And that will give you a login screen.

Maybe someone else has a better idea, but this should work.

Yes, that would work, but there would still be a Registration link on that page. What I want to do is disable registeration overall.

The login and register now links on the top of you page, under the logo is part of the theme. Edit theme.html to remove them.

Nice site BTW.

Thanks. I know about the link at the top. What I meant was the link on the 'user.php' page under the login boxes which offers the user to Register an account. I want to disable the registration system overall.

That should be part of the login block and vanish when you disable the block. If it is the one I am seeing anyway.

to disable user registration, go to System -> Preferences -> User Info Settings and set "Allow new user registration?" to no.

Yes, only hiding is what Micro$oft does. Hide and disable is surely better option

modules/system/templates/system_userform.html has the main login and forgot password form. Blank it and update system module. Or clone the template and edit it

In my opinion Ackbar's solution is sufficient. Simply disable new user registration in the administration menu and hide the login/register block.

You can login yourself then using thehttp://yoursite.com/user.php page.

When you change your mind afterwards and you want to enable user registration, simply reverse your actions. No cloning and editing of templates required.

Martijn
