hi there, well im having a problem with XOOPS and i have seen many other people have had the same problem, unfortunatly i had to make this thread as no one has yet to post a solution to what can be done.

After installation which goes through quite smoothly im left with an index page which has dead links

thats all there is with the header and footer (both header and footer links work)

is this a bug, is there a fix for this, or am i just unlucky lol coz many other people do not seem to have this problem, i have the latest mysql, php, and apache, so what could be the problem? Please do reply to this with s solution, THx

do you mean you can't login at all? can you see login block? can you enable php debug? and what is your URL?

a little bit more info might be useful too.. also check the faq section out too.

but u say ur using the latest versions of apache, MySQL and php???

exactly what versions?

it clearly states that Xoops2.0.7.3 is not compatible with PHP 5, so if ur using that then there's your problem..

if ur using php 5 then either switch to php 4.3.9 or use the XOOPS 2.0.9 Beta which fixes some php 5 issues..

im using my localhost as a test b4 i upload to a URL
I can see the two items both text,
there is no box to login and you cant type anything

how can php debugging be enabled, sorry i am new to this and a bit slow....

i was told that by a friend b4 installation, and switched from php 5 down to 4 , installation went well but after installation i cudnt do anything.

PHP Version 4.3.9
mysql 3.23.49
Apache/2.0.52 (Win32) mod_ssl/2.0.52 OpenSSL/0.9.7c PHP/4.3.9
dunno if that helps, i was told i had the latest version of everything, i also have php 5 but that is disabled

well MySQL 3.23 is an oldish version.. i can't say for sure if that could be the cause in your case as i don't know.. maybe a dev could confirm that..

but check the folder permissions..

cache, uploads & templates_c need to be writable, (chmod 777)

incidentally u can try logging in withhttp://www.yourdomain.com/user.php

then use the admin.php url.. and try to enable debug if u get into admin..

the same problem under win2003 iis 6 , php5, MySQL server 4.17, and XOOPS 2.0.9 beta.
can anyone solve such a problem?

It sounds like a DNS issue or mismatched settings in mainfile.php. The pages might be trying to render links it can't understand. Likehttp://localhost/xxxx when your browser doesn't know what a "localhost" is, common Windoze problem. Try setting up with your real IP address instead of localhost.

Also, PHP5 isn't fully supported yet if that is still in use.

just tried to use the ip address instead of localhost, but still the same problem-----------dead links as before :(

looks like several people are facing the same problem, hope somebody can solve it ..........
