Hi all,

I am creating a company intranet and they have asked if they can have a staff list module. I have used the existing members module but I don't think it will be appropiate. What they are looking for is something like this -

Department 1
staff name 1 (office location)
staff name 2 (office location)
Department 2
staff name 1 (office location)
staff name 2 (office location)
etc.....

When you click on a staff name it takes you to a page that displays the staff's info.

Does anyone know of a module that does this or is there any way of adapting an existing module?

Kind regards

Auren.

Two choices
1. Any article manager, which supports at least 3-rd level hierarchy
- Category
- Subcategory
- Article

2. Any Wiki-module and write all trees by hand

I, personally, will choice second solution - it'll give me mor freedom in implementation

For example you could use the SmartSection module:

- sections==departments
- article names==employee name
- actual article==employee page

I think this would be a better option than a wiki...

Thanks guys,

I have actually made some progress. I have installed the membership module which displays your users from the xoopsmembers mod in a list format. That is problem 1 dealt with...

I have managed to strip out unwanted items in the list page, ICQ, AIM, PM etc. and added a link to the userinfo.php page on the staff name. Looking good so far..

My list page looks something like this -

Name Email Office Department Job Title
staff 1 whatever UK Retail Assistant

When you click on the name you are then taken to the main userinfo.php page. This is where the new problem occurs.

Since this is a company intranet there is absolutely no need for Avatar, Website, PM, ICQ, AIM, YIM, MSNM and rank. I would also like to give the interest field a different name. How do I go about taking those fields safely out of the way and just having the info we want?
Also, and this is a long shot, but would it be possible to have a staff image somewhere in there?

Sorry if this post is now in the wrong section.

Kind regards

Auren

You just need to hack the template file (System Module -> Template Manager), to edit the template files, you will first need to clone the default template set (and under General Preferences you will need to change the template set used, to the name you chose for the cloned set, which you make your changes to).

The file you need to make the changes to is system_userinfo.html, for the display of userinfo. Here you can also change "Interests" into what you want it to be...

Hope this helps...
