Hey guys,

I am the Administrator of www.future-outpost.com. I've been trying to figure out how to upload avatars to new "special ranks" for certain users. One user sent me a file that was 450k for their avatar, but XOOPS will not allow me to upload it due to its size.

Is there a setting I need to change to increase the avatar/image sizes?

To create a Rank go to system admin/User Ranks, then "Add New Rank". Special ranks can be assigned to users irrespective of the number of user posts--to do this click the "Special" checkbox. You can edit an existing rank and make it "special" if you wish

To assign a Rank to a user go to system admin/edit user, and then modify a user. Look for the "rank" dropdown. The special rank you have created will appear in the list.

System admin/preferences/user info settings allows you to increase the max size of avatars, and also allows you to set up custom uploads for users.

Just one thing more:

It would be wise if you only have a small amount of hosting space (mine is 500MB) to download the image and then reduce it's size using your favorite graphics program. You can even use MS Paint... Then upload that image as his avatar. 450K is really quite big.

This'll keep your images small, and your page loads very quick.

Good point, just noticed 450K? No, far too big, page will take forever to load..
