hey,
is there a way i can disable registered users on my site from submiting news?
i know i can stop it from being published but is there a way for the 'submit news' submenu to be hidden so only i can submit the news and they cant even try.
(sounds stupid but really i only want the 'submit news' submenu to b disable for registered users and anominous users)

thanx!

You could disable the link in the main menue through module administration and use a module like multiMenu to create a custom link to the news section. Or you could edit the menu_main.html template, but that would disable all the submenus for everything.

You could also modify your .php files in the news module folder, but I'm not sure off hand which files.

modules/news/xoops_version.php

It is possible to get the modulehandler and check to see if the user is module admin for news module before adding the submit news link to the main menu.

A little too tired to post the snippet now - but there are previous posts about this subject, where a snippet was posted, so see if you can dig it up (I believe I and Catzwolf posted in that thread)
