you can't run a phpnuke module on XOOPS. The interfaces are so different, that it will never work. However, there are several friendsfinder modules:

Buddyfriends (download from here)
DirectFriends (download here)
and last but not least: FriendFInder (get it here).

As for the news, there is no conversion script that I know of, so I'm afraid I can't help you there.

Thanks a lot for your instruction. I tested the modules you introduced and did a search of phpnuke and friendfind.
Here is a short summary of a beginner's research.

1)Why choose XOOPS vs PHP Nuke?
answer:quality vs quantity

2)Convert phpnuke to xoops
answer: some script can convert user from phpnuke to xoops

3)Friendfinder modules
Xoops Buddyfriends
Xoops DirectFriends
Xoops FriendFinder
phpnuke FriendFinder

I tested these modules, phpnuke FriendFinder is mostly satified with my requirements.
So I have to make a decision, to customize it for xoops, or change the platform to phpnuke.
I also need phpnuke's career module, it is hard for a beginner to customize both of them for xoops.

Please don't forget that there are 185 modules and a couple hundred themes (!) listed on the XOOPS Sourceforge site

http://sourceforge.net/projects/xoops/

More modules and themes are being released every day so make sure you do a search for the most recent.
