Well, it still tells the number of users, but when I click on "more...", it doesn't show me where everyone is located.

I tried changing my session time, also implemented the sessions.php hack as mentioned in another thread, but still, the locations are unknown (show up blank).

Any ideas?

Brad, sometimes it will be blank if the users are all on the front page and I even think it shows up blank when the users are viewing or editing their accounts or reading/writing private messages. Maybe you just haven't been catching any of your users browsing a certain module on your site when you click the more link.

Actually I had implemented a small hack that would show everyone on the "home page" unless they were in a specific module (it was working great).

The site isn't live yet, and for the most part, I am the only one on (unless I use two different browsers to check things). I still don't know how the whole thing works, so maybe I need more traffic before it will work properly... ?

Sometimes the who's online table locks, this has happened to me in the past.

But, perhaps that is not the case in this instance

I have also fixed this for myself in the past by dropping the table and re-creating it. Or "flushing" the table often sorts it using phpadmin

See this thread Here

(The session fix actually stopped mine working, possibly I did something wrong..:))

Yikes, I don't know what I've done. I decided to revert back to the original sessions.php file from XOOPS 2.0.5., so I reuploaded that file.

Now my who's online never updates, it always says 0 users!

Check the xoops_online table in your database and see if it needs optimizing. Also check the session and config tables and see if they need optimizing too.

Plus try updating the system admin module while you are at it

Thanks for the suggestions! I've tried them all and still show 0 online. I think I might be messed up somewhere due to the fact that I added the IPB module (it actually isn't the problem, it was working fine when I first installed -- but I've since upgraded Xoops, plus been hacking away at some files, and I probably messed up something in the process).

So I think the next step is to remove that module, reupload the XOOPS core files, update the system module, and see what happens!

EDIT> geez, I'd hate to lose all the work I've done integrating the IPB module so far. So I'm going to avoid uninstalling the module for now, and try to figure out what went wrong. I just checked the xoops_online table, and it's completely empty, the script no longer seems to be writing to it at all.

You could just try reuploading the sytem module in the modules folder instead and then updating the system module in system admin. If that works, it would save you alot of hassle!
