I'm relatively new to XOOPS and lack PHP coding skills.

I need to create a second newbb forum with an entirely different set of permissions from the first.

I searched this forum but could not find clear instructions for creating a second forum - or for creating a second instance of modules in general.

There have been some discussions on the topic before, however, and I suspect it would be useful to others.

For someone without knowledge of PHP like me, clear and very explicit instructions are needed.

Apologies in advance if there's already documentation available about this... I haven't been able to find it.

I know this does not help you at the moment, but we will be re-writing most of the modules so that they can be used more than once on any site. The forum will be one of them.

I did request this before and somebody has done this already. Just search for newbb2 or petitoops you should find it with that.

I just did the search here it is http://petitoops.net/
You will see Forum JP and Forum EN

You have to become a member so get to the download page.

Thanks Catzwolf

That sounds like a great addition to the XOOPS module setup.

Any idea how long off? Weeks, months...?

Thanks also gruessle.

I did register and download the newbb2 module at petitxoops as suggested.

It didn't unpack properly for me. I'm waiting to hear from the software author.

How are the present modules being re-written? What are the rules for this?

developing for multiple module instances
When developing, how do you keep an eye out for multiple installed instances? Look at all of the things that are interrelated;

- modversion['name']
- subdirectory name
- table names in /sql
- constants in language/[yourlanguage]/

One variable
Is there one variable that would always be available whether executing .php in the base module directory as well as admin/ ?

table names
Short of editing the table names in the SQL directory how would table names be converted?

Are there any individual modules that have solved this problem?
