What's the best Wiki module?

I'm looking at implementing a system on my site where people can edit documents with or without logins.

The Wiki system that the XOOPS system employs might be what I'm looking for but I need to know which one it uses.

There is a module called WakaWiki but it talks about a mod for Apache.

Considering that I don't host my site, I can't state whether or not my host actually has this mod.

What is the issue with this mod?

most of apache installations have this mod (mod_rewrite) in ..
at best try if it is working..
i think the wakka implitation is the best wiki module

I agree with PureLuXus, I like the ACL controls given by Wakka and the extendability provided. You can see my installation of Wakka on my website. Also included on that site are instructions on how to add functionality to the base Wakka module.

Hi Ackbarr!
Do you have a version of wakka available that is newer/patched/updated then on one found here @ xoops.org? If so, is it available for download?

Thanks in advance,
Dr3vil

Re: What's the best Wiki module?

I decided against releasing my modified version to the public as it would further muddle the issue of what Wiki modules were available. However I am happy to furnish it upon request. Send me a PM with an email address and I will send you my modified code.

I'm having big problems with installing WakkaWiki.

I copied the module into the modules directory and ran the install as per normal XOOPS module installs.

However, there was no directory called HomePage and so this threw up an error.

No matter, I created the directory but now I get the directory listing because there is nothing in there.

The documentation given doesn't say what is required to get it up and running.

Am I missing a file or what.

The admin settings give me options that don't seem to change anything, there's no links for adding documents or anything.

Please help because I really want to get this going.

Thanks.

there never will be a dir. with the name HomePage..
the url in ur browser is a function of wakka (it use mod_rewrite)
it is for easier urls and better for google bots
if it is dont work ask your host if on the machine is mod_rewrite running!

I've checked my test server and it appears to be running but everytime I go to run the Wiki I get a 404 error saying /modules/wakka/HomePage was not found on this server.

Is there a config file I haven't edited yet or something?

I am not a programmer, but I'd like to add wakkawiki as a module to my XOOPS intallation (www.wesolveitnet.com). I'd like to use it as documentation source for the different sofware we translators use.

I just downloaded wakkawiki from their site.

Now: do I need a separate MySQL-database (did not find this)

And: how to install it as a module under xoops? Or do I need to use a subdomain with separate database? If yes: how to insert it on my main page in order to have people find it (like on ths page XOOPS wiki).

Thank you!!!

Best, Sabine

Re: maybe a stupid question ...

WakkaWiki was first released as a standalone program. If you went to wakkawiki.com, that is what you downloaded. XoopsLDAP then ported wakka into a XOOPS module, announced in this news article
