I have created a new theme based on a comicbook theme I found for another product. The thing is, I want to change the graphics for the forum if I'm using that theme. Is there a way without overwriting the graphics in the newbb module?

if you want you can use the CSS to have a background img ... in the different parts of the forum

Actually, already have that happening. What I'm looking for is a way to change the default folder/topic graphics to something custom. (from stylized Xs to thought balloons)

seems like the cleanest way to do this is to define a custom template set in "System" -> "Templates" and modify the html to use your new graphics. You can use <{$xoops_imageurl}> smarty variable so you can store the graphics in your theme's directory. Don't forget to set that template set as the active one in "System" -> "Preferences" -> "General Settings"

From the looks of things, I can't change it by changing the template. The images paths are coded into the newBB module. Guess I'm going to have to hack the module in order to make it more customizable.
