I have a few questions about this.

Q1: I am looking to use the news module as a way to advertise promotions for various vendors. They are also categorized by location. So for example it looks like this now for my topics:

Carribean
--Jamaica
---Ocho Rios
--Mexico
---Cancun

Et cetera...

Anyway... why is it when I filter and say select Carribean, why is it I can not see all the posts that relate to a sub-topic? I also need a way to select between seeing all posts to parent groups or sub-groups

Q2: Next question:
A post will look like this:
###
Title: Bob's Widgets: 1/2 Off Sale

Bob's Widgets are 1/2 off if you pre-order between 01/01/05 and 02/01/05 with a delivery date of 03/03/05 to 04/04/05
###

Even if I formatted them to say
Order Date: 01/01/05 - 02/01/05
Delivery Date: 03/03/05 - 04/04/05

How can I make this searchable? for say if someone wanted to order 01/05/05 or whatever...

Q3: How can I create searchable fields in a news post?

I figure thats the answer to my above problems... I would like to use inputed text, drop down, or check boxes... I don't care which. I want to be able to search on these is my goal.

Hi Matt,

For your first question, when you are inside a topic, you can only see its articles, not the descendant articles. Sorry.

For your last questions, I'm not sure to undersant, all the fields in the news module are "searchable". The title, the introduction and the full text, what's your problem ?

Bye,
Hervé

Basically I want to know how to add fields to a new post via radio button and then add to search the ability to see if those radio buttons were checked.

So I could have check boxes in the post for the different locations.

Matt,

You must be able to program in php, you must know MySQL and you must know the news module's structure.
If you need some information about the XOOPS api, consult this :

Bye,
Hervé
