I've successfully createdhttp://www.eclypto.com/xoops-2.0.7/html/modules/news/ and I would like to know how to make it JUST www.eclypto.com, or how to redirect browsers to the correct page (but I'd much rather have the first one).

Then...I'd like to know what I could do in return for someone else.

If you don't have any real content yet, you can try a new install with files in /html/ going to your site's root.

Another way to correct this would be:
- Generate a DB dump
- Replace "/xoops-2.0.7/html/" with "/" in the dump
- Put that data back in MySQL
- Move your files and directory tree root from /xoops-2.0.7/html/ to /

As you can see in my sig, only lazy people keep unnecessary directories in their paths

Ahhh, I am not sure how to move it now that you have it installed already but....if you dont have content on your site or you have something that is easily recreated, then when you unzip/untar gzip the XOOPS folder you simply unzip it to where you want it to be.

in order to get it to point tohttp://www.yoursite.com, You will want to move all of the files in the xoops/html directory into your webservers root directory or set your webservers root directory tohttp://www.yoursite.com/xoops/html

if you have not added content, i would suggest a clean install. by using this urlhttp://www.yoursite.com/xoops/html you create two sub directories. so, when you unzip, click on html and simply upload all the files to your root directory. once uploaded to your root directory just point to yoursite.com/install.php

This may help you. I had installed my XOOPS site to www.mydomain.com/web2. When I had finished putting in all the content, I wanted just www.mydomain.com to be the way to my site. So while reading this help forum I stumbled accross my solution on an unrelated search!!

I edited the mainfile.php,
XOOPS_ROOT_PATH I removed the /web2
XOOPS_URL I removed the /web2

making sure to remove the trailing slash.

It has worked on two different sites now. I didn't have to move the database or anything else.

Good luck!

This sounds too good to be true. Has anybody else had success with this method?

If so, it should be documented as this is such an important part of SEO.

I know it is hard to believe such an easy solution!

I found the original information here:
http://wiki.xoops.org/wakka.php?wakka=InstallGuide
It is great info!
