The same here. I am suspecting that the main culprit is the PHP version. Unfortunately my service provider has PHP 4.0.4 where as the official requirement is 4.1 and above. Will change the Provider in a few days and get back to tell you the result.

Im getting the exact same problem and I also have PHP 4.0.4

Looks as though im gonna have to use the Old XOOPS 1 RC3.0.5 since thats the only one that will work for me.

Or I can contact my hosts and see if they can upgrade.

The same stuff :( But I have PHP 4.2.2, and all the requirements are met.. Just can't imagine, what could it be, immediately after installation.

May the fathers of XOOPS give some answer - "why that variable isn't getting initialized", or at least show where to look..

Still no ideas? :(

I've got exactly the same bug. Running MySQL 4.0.18, PHP 4.3.6, Apache 1.3.29, FreeBSD.

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: () in [...]/class/smarty/Smarty.class.php on line 1658.

I have the exact same error and line number. Cant check my PHP version, but I know is near the latest (Verio Hosting)

I too am running FreeBSD.. anyone else? 2.0.7 was even worse, at least 2.0.6 installed fine.

But this error is causing all my pages to be blank, so I cant log in or anything.

i can't replicate this problem.. so i can't comment.

but it maybe something to do with how ur server is configured.

i would suggest doing a phpinfo and checking configuration of it..
