I just set up a personal XOOPS site ( for freinds and family) and I installed a couple modules including myAlbum-p 2.8(edit)2.7 actually(/edit) ...

I was interested in checking out other image archive modules and downloaded myAlbum 1.1.3(beta) .

But both of these have the same name for a module directory "myalbum" ..

Correctme if i'm wrong, They are written by 2 different people.

Can they both be installed on the same XOOPS system..
how?

And ( maybe this belongs in the reveiw section, but)
Which is better?

ps. Sorry for being a noob
Flinx

for support here is the site for myalbum-p:http://www.peak.ne.jp/xoops/

if the modules are in fact different there should be no issues installing both of them. there is also other galleries, like xcgallery.

hi Flinx.

You can install myAlbum-P as myalbum0, myalbum1, or myalbum2 with dirname.

All you have to do is rename myalbum to myalbum0(1,2).
Then install it.

4 quick questions to get this straight in my head......

1. I can install 2 of the same modules on the same site??

2. rename the module folder??

3. would this also work for mydownloads??

4. I am interested as this would allow me to set different permissions per module.....yes??

Thanks for your time,
Booga.

Yes.
The default dirname of myAlbum-P is myalbum.
Then you can rename myalbum to myalbum0(1,2)

I can't understand what you mean.
If you mean renaming myalbum to mydownloads, the answer is no.
Else you mean renaming mydownloads to mydownloads0, the answer is no, too.

There are a quite few modules can be duplicated easily.
TinyD, myAlbum-P, xhld, and WordPressME.
I don't know anothers.

yes, I was thinking that a duplicate of the my downloads module (renaming the 2nd one to mydownloads_1) would allow me to set permissions separately to the original mydownloads module.

This is not possible??

Not impossible but troublesome.
You can clone any modules manually.
But it's not so easy like "Duplicatable" modules.
If you want another one mydownloads only, someone must have made mydownloads clone.

Did you edit your post?

With Duplicatable modules, the answer is YES, of course.

This is one of the most important purpose that I made "Duplicatable" modules.
