One way, although intensive for the Site Admin,

Would be to use a block for the "Registered" users, and then after some time, the Admin, would remove that user from regisered, and put them in a similarly permissioned group that didnot have access to the message.

I don't know if there are any other bad things that happen if a user is not "Registered", but I did a quick test, and it seems to work.
[If you are talking about alot of users... this probably is not a good idea.]

I downloaded The Last News Block

copied it to the modules dir, and chown'd the files to apache, It installed ok for me, but...

When I try to use it, my front page comes back blank?!?!?

the only other thing i did was addjust the block configuration( block edit) and set the number of articals to 2.

Front page works if Block Admin - Visible is set to NO, but then what's the point.

( i'm running XOOPS 2.0.7 )

Thanks for the help.

Ok, I see how that works now.

I talked with my other play, and he actually wants to just play it out, if we can star anouther ate the same place.

But this info was valueable...
I think I'll modify the pgn_movetext on the new game to have the starting moves from the previous game, that way we can port it into chessmaster for analisis.

( I have earlier worked with a Perl script that walked the PGN file as how it saves games ( text format ) and I could just delete the move. This is a little more complex, but better. With FEN setup We can play some varients, like Fischer Random or Mongredian Chess or many others. Very Cool. )

This one is probably for Dave_L..

A user made a move in haste, and would like to take it back.
It's a friendly game, when we play f2f it's generally allowed.

Is there some way for me ( as admin ) to remove his last move?

- As a work around, we could start a new game using FEN to set the board up. but then we wouldn't have the full move list for the generated PGN, ( I like to analize my games afterward ). Yes, I could further, just type it in, but...
i'm, lazy

I'm haveing the same problem.
Idealy I want to show the most recent News item on the top, and then the forum updates, and comment updates, random images ( blah, blah ) and finally the rest of the recent news.

I think it doesn't work b/c the news items are not a "block" which would have a weight and be positional. If there were a way to create a block that could display a news item, then it could be done.

Anybody want to help us?
Thanks in advance

Um, I'm curious about this too..

Even on the front page of this site Xoops.org I don't see the use of the MD5 hash being used. As I under stand it, it needs to happen before the post of the login form or the form ( passwords included ) is readable by anybody sniffing the plain text transmissions.

For a website, I'm working on at work, we md5 hash paswords in the db, but also have a javascript md5 hash algorith that is used on the client side..
We send a one time use random string, which when it is md5 hashed with the users md5 hashed password is then transfered back to us to verify....
I can explain more, but i assume that the dev's here understand.

I just don't see the md5 hash algo on the front page being included.. But I might be missing it.

I've tried XDirectory(1.5) and Addresses (1.7).
but neither are behaving the way i would like them to.
[ both are focused on the addresses (not phone numbers)
and have huge tables for each item. I would prefer a tight simple table of results. ]

I'm tring to use XOOPS as a PDA of sorts for my wife and I,
Along with sharing out photos and news for family members.

We are using Agenda-X for our joint calandar,
And want a module that lists names and phone numbers in a table, and if the name is clicked on then there is address and other information. searchable, and alphabetical paging would be a plus.

Does anybody know if something like this exists?
I have not found it.

Thanks Flinx
