I have just tried to install XOOPS 2.06 on my hosted server and also on my local machine running apache and MySQL with the same problem, when I copy the contents of the html/ directory from the XOOPS distribution file like the INSTALL.html says all I get is an index listing of the files in my directory!! No installer!! I have read that it should redirect from index.php to the installer but I don't have an index.php or an install.php in my html/ directory, here is a listing of the files that I do have from the distribution file:

class/
kernel/
modules/
include/
language/
themes/
edituser.php
userinfo.php
search.php

As you can see I don't have an index.php and that's what my web server is looking for.

Does anyone knopw what gives??

Looks like you used a patch in stead of the full core distribution.

My Bad!! I must have downloaded the wrong files from sourceforge. I have the full XOOPS 2.0 core now and it works fine. Thanks for the help!!
