Ok, I have the major layout sorted, I know what I want and where I'm going, but there's still a few minor issues in my way.

The major one is my layout problem. For me, all XOOPS sites overlap. That is, the center column overlaps the left, and the right column overlaps the center. I've taken a screen shot, because I assume not many others encounter this.

Is this common, or just me with IE 5 & Win98 ?

The question is, what can I do to fix it ?

It's not worth upgrading, this old computer is so slow with any other version, I'd rather risk the security holes.

I also know that other people trying to access it may get the same effect, I'd ratehr find a fix for everyone.

I see the same problem on some Windows 2000 systems. It happens with http://www.xoops.org too. It looks bad.

It might be that you're using an old version of IE or some other browser.

I don't see the same thing on the 3 versions of MS OSes that I run (98..NT..XPpro) but I do have the latest IE, Mozilla, Firefox, and Opera on mine.

I came out to the forum with the same problem. My site looks fine on IE6, but on IE5.5, it does the same overlapping that you see. As 5.5 is more standard than 6, I have a problem.

The problem is the CSS. You may want to take a look at the IE 5.x Hack in the download section.
https://xoops.org/modules/mydownloads/viewcat.php?cid=28&min=10&orderby=titleA&show=10

If you really want to go a step further to ensure your site looks the same to all visitors, visit the W3C CSS Validator and correct any errors found. If you don't know CSS, you can get an excellent primer at W3Schools.
