I've just installed XOOPS and had no problem with installation, but as soon as i get to log into admin area I am being redirected back to index page.

I've serached through the forum and done everything as suggested:

All suggested pages being chmod(cache, uploads, templates)
Added global off to htaccess page
Allowed session cookies
Disabled Firewall

But the problem seems to persist and I am still being kicked back to the home page.

I am frustrated as I don't know what to do!!!

Please help.

just checking, are you getting to login? XOOPS does redirect you back to the index page. Is an administration link showing on the left block?

It says that I am being logged in, but then it takes me back to where I was and I don't see admin link.

Check your User Menu and see if it has "Admininistration Menu" available. If it does, select that and you should be in.

If that item is not there try typing something like this into your browser url bar:

http://www.yoursitename.com/admin.php

That might get you in...

when i get to my the admin.php page it says I am not authorised to be on this page.

If "register_globals off" does not help. There is not much you can do, but ask your hosting company to upgrade PHP.

Your server is running 4.0.6 version and Xoops2 requires 4.1.0 and up.
