My last site was a phpNuke site. I found it to be buggy. I like using XOOPS so far. But XOOPS is brand new to me so I can't really tell you anything more than I changed from phpNuke cause I really was totally satisfied with it.

But most important for me is XOOPS has dedicated, diehard developers. IMHO this forum and its memebers ROCK! I really appreciate the support with xoops.

Like you I too searched around and initially was going for phpNuke because of their modules but after reviewing how difficult it is to do groups and group access I settled for XOOPS which has a pretty no brainer way to set up your group and group access. A big plus its also very very easy to install. I think my daughter (2 year old) could do it and I installed many CMS's to try out.

All my sites (4) are on XOOPS now and many of them I've moved servers many times and XOOPS stands up with every move, very little or zero problems. A good place to test out many of the CMS's visit http://www.opensourcecms.com see for yourself. It really boils down to what you want the CMS to do because some just do a particular thing better than others.

Hello Max
From all CMS (and I've more or less tryed them all), XOOPS rocks for it's stability, It's great community (peoples are actually living the XOOPS here, and acts as if it's a living thing ), the simple and reliable installation process, The fact that you can move it to another server/path with an amasing ease (I did it 4 times with 3 different websites, and not a slight problem), It's strong security, and, well, did I mention all

well, One thing is actually against xoops: very hard to find nice themes, this community is lake of telented designers, though it gets a bit better during time (I hope I'm not offending anyone, it simply is a fact )

AceFTP Freeware is much better IMO.
My SmartFTP always kept disconnecting when uploading many files.
