I got XOOPS 2.0.6 installed with the default modules.
I'm trying to learn how to use the web interface to manipulate
the look and feel of my site and have some questions. They may seem pretty simple to you but if you can give me a few pointers that would save me a lot of time:

1) How to I make a module (e.g. login) display horizontally?
By default it displays in the top left corner of the left
side bar. How do I make it display at the top, right below
the banner image? Similarly, how do I make the Main Menu
items display horizontally on the same line as the login
menu:

2) Where can I download more templates that determine the
look and feel of the site? Is it (supposed to be)
just a matter of selecting a template to have the
entire site change its look and feel?

1) you're talking about blocks, not modules.
2) horizontally? full page-width: edit your theme.
3) check out admin -> system -> blocks
4) Themes change the looks of your site. Not templates. Templates change your blocks looks.
