Most of the color options will be in the CSS files. Unless they are hardcoded in the theme files.

I would suggest you get a little reading under your belt before tackling the modification of files.

Go to w3schools and read up on HTML, PHP, CSS. Use a text editor (Notepad, Wordpad, Dreamweaver or AceHTML) and find code as examples of the lessons in the XOOPS files.

Like they say, give a man a fish and you feed him for one meal, teach him to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.

Peace.

Hi...
Just food for the brain...
Go to www.godaddy.com and buy your own domain 10 dollars US max per year! Then you own your own website address. Very cheap thing to do!

Now

Go here and sign up for a reseller account.
www.dathorn.com 13 dollars a month. You can host as many domain names as you want! This means if you buy 10 domain names from godaddy.com you can host all of them at one time with dathorn.com under a reseller program. If fact you can host alot of your friends domain names also. You can even split the cost of the whole thing.

Dathorn has a very helpful forum for any newbie questions.

You will need a few basic tools to work on your websites.

WS_FTP LE = This will put the files on your new reseller account / server
http://www.ipswitch.com/downloads/index.html

Putty = Ssh client lets you unpack XOOPS on your server.
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/download.html

MetaPad = Better than notepad plus free
http://www.liquidninja.com/metapad/download.html

Pixie = Very useful color tool
http://www.nattyware.com/pixie.html

Gimp = Free photoshop like program for making your grafics.
http://www2.arnes.si/~sopjsimo/gimp/
http://gug.sunsite.dk/
http://www.gimp.org/

7Zip = the best compression program on the net plus free.
http://www.7-zip.org/

IrfanView = Grafics viewer plus other cool stuff
http://www.irfanview.com/

Last but not least
Xoops = One hell of a good CMS...
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=41586
Every file you could ever possibly need is on that link.

If you need any help what so ever just PM me and I will be glad to answer any questions you have.

Regards
Billy

Ps: I know your overseas but you still have a way to spend US money dont you? Not sure on that one...

Good luck

Thanks for all your help on those links.
But I have seen, what seems to be an amazing deal
withhttp://www.midphase.com/featurelist.shtml
Could you read all the features you get with the
first cheap package ($7.95) and tell me if that would
work with xoops?

P.S. I quote 'Xoops is one hell of a CMS',
but i though XOOPS was a PHP is it not?
I know it means content managing system but that doesn't
make sense to what XOOPS offers, i though i just had modules and everything.

Also may I ask, what is the difference with HTML and PHP sites? is XOOPS made in PHP? and can PHP be made offline.
Thanks,
reply to each question

Looks like a good offer - way more than XOOPS requires

In the modules, you put content - XOOPS manages the way, you add content and as such is a Content Management System.

PHP is the programming language used and as such has not much to do with the actual program being a CMS

XOOPS is made with PHP, which is a language, which allows for the programmer to do actual programming, such as retrieving data from a database and manipulating the data to fit his needs.

HTML is also used in conjunction with PHP to actually present the information - it can be used alone without PHP but only with static content(i.e. everytime you look at a HTML page, it looks the same, whereas when you refresh the front page here on xoops.org, something is bound to have changed )

PHP can be made offline, but not shown. PHP requires a webserver to translate the PHP into HTML, which your browser can understand.
