Your ignorance astounds me. I retract my appologies and my earlier statement about blowing smoke. I know where to start blowing it.

I tried not being rude and even hoped that you might have understood, yet you continue to attack people here unfairly.

You didn't have to continue on the offensive and I even held back what now has been said by others so it's not worth repeating.

Right - but we COULD use some easy functions to e.g. input an image with alt text and all

Also input elements should be modified in XoopsForm classes to conform.

Apart from that, section 508 compliance comes through themes and templates - most of which is not made by the core team.

On a slightly related topic - what coding knowledge is required to write modules?

And as for the people here ... they are helpful and talented individuals, who are giving up their time to write and assist with a damn good system - and smart assed comments from the offending poster help nothing :(

To write a module all it takes is some php knowledge along with some SQL.

You can read a good little startup guide here:

PHP Code knowledge is a plus.
Knowledge about Object Oriented programming is a big plus, too.

Apart from that, I would recommend that you
a) Have a very good idea about what you want to accomplish witht the module
b) Have a slight idea as to how the pages can be displayed
c) Pick a module to look after - I recommend the News module. It has taught me a great deal in how to work with XOOPS
d) Ask here with help for specific problems - but do try to take a stab at it first

Thanks for the pointers (both of you) - will start looking into it.

I havent really touched PHP script before ... but i'm an "old-school" coder - who has dabbled in most languages... so I'm more than willing to give it a shot!
