Need help with install of modules.....getting sql errors

This is what I get:

You have an error in your SQL syntax near 'KEY search (title,hometext,bodytext) ) TYPE=MyISAM' at line 28

Unable to install news. Error(s):


this is running on a Debian server with

apache and mysql

What is your MySQL version? Is it the first module you're trying to install? DO all modules give this type of error? If so, it could be that your MySQL version is unsupported, or that it is set up improperly?

I was able to install polls, headlines etc.... news seems to be my only issue so far.
