WFSections Instead of News?

Is there any reason not to use WFSections for News?

Are there features in News that WFSections doesn't have?

Has anyone used WFSections this way... creating a news category, and then various subcategories under that?

Thoughts and observations welcome.

Re: WFSections Instead of News?

There are quite a few modules out there, filling the basic need for announcing something or publishing articles etc.

The main difference is in the display and navigation of said articles.

In my (old) version of WF-Sections, articles are navigated to via the category, whereas News are navigated by time of publish.

I guess it is a matter of what you use it for - News module is made for small-to-medium announcements with little relevance after a while, whereas WF-Sections is meant for longer articles which can be just as relevant months later. But it all depends on how it is used.

Personally I use News to announce updates to the site/modules and WF-Sections for how-to's and other longer articles.
