I tried to install XOOPS 2.0.6 several times but always failed in getting a blank web page before creating database tables in the procedure of install.
Is there any log I could check for errors?

Thanks in advance for any help.

The following site should probably help you fixing the blank page problem.

Hi chapi,

Thanks for your help.
I check the link and

1) modify "include/common.php" to use "error_reporting(E_ALL);"
2) make sure that "display_errors=On" and "register_globals=on" in "etc/php.ini"
3) test <? echo phpinfo(); ?> in a test.php file and get a phpinfo() page containing a lot of informaiton about php

, but I still get the blank page.
Any advice?

Thanks a lot.

What is your server enviroment?
Are you running your own apache?
Php version?
Linux?
Windows?

Sorry for all the questions, just trying to get an idea on your servers situation.

Sorry. I forgot to provide information about my system.
I have my own system:
1)Linux RedHat 9.0
2)MySQL 4.0.18
3)PHP 4.2.2
4)default Apache server in RedHat 9.0
5)firewall with port 80 (for HTTP), port 21 (for FTP) and port 3306 (for MySQL) accessable.

Should I enable TCP connection in MySQL?

Thanks for any help.

ok, well all I can do is make suggestions, I know of a few different reasons why a page would read blank.

1. In the php_info page you said it display a bunch of info ... look whithin that info for Register Globals, see if this is set to =on or =off. This needs to be set to =on.

2. You may want to try upgrading yuor PHP to the newest stable version.

3. Are you trying to user ssl? This may create a problem.

4. Could you perhaps post a link? Sometimes a blank page can be a browser problem as well.

Normally when a page returns blank it is because you do not have permission to access it.

Hope one of the above suggestions returns useful. Please let me know, im most curious as to the root problem.
