I just installed with fantastico. I then signing, go to the administration menu and select modules install. Then, maybe on the second module or third, its random, a message will pop up saying "sorry you dont have permission for this area"
Then it will give me a hard time to log back in. Sometimes it will show the extra items from the main menu after log in, and sometimes it will just show the login box and no, administration menu.

Anybody got any ideas. The install didn't report any errors.

We've had many reports of strange behaviour with fantastico installs. XOOPS has a very simple installer, maybe you should try installing XOOPS the regular way?
