New 2.0.6 Install: No Admin Login Provided

I just completed a new install of 2.0.6 with no errors. I believe all file permissions are 666 and directory permissions are 777.

I installed into the /html directory, and when I see /html/index.php there is a header and a footer and nothing in between. I was lead to expect a login prompt from other posts.

If I try to access /html/admin.php directly, I see "You don't have rights to access this area" and I'm redirected back to /html/index.php. Still no login prompt. No joy.

Can anyone tell me how to break this cycle and login to the admin area?

Just started with this stuff myself.
But from what I found, your server is not properly setup.
Are you using apache?

If your server is properly set, when you attempt to access your web page for the first time, XOOPS will run you through a small installation questioniare.

Hello.

My hosting service does use Apache, but I did go through the installation questionnaire as you mentioned. What I am describing is the result of the installation process.

I may try uninstalling and reinstalling everything unless a more specific cause is revealed first.

Hello to all,

would be interested in what helped exactly.

I face the same problem. Install process asks everything what is needed, (over)writes necessary files, and creates all database tables. After install finishes, the main screen is blank (i.e. shows just blank standard html page).

Already tried second installation on same machine with different path - no change.

Anyone with ideas?

Already through.

After getting the errormessages working I found out, that some filenames in the sources are not complying to what the install process created. Had to change "Smarty" into "smarty" and voila everything - hopefully - goes.
