Just took the plunge and upgraded a significantly-sized site (for me) from v1.3.10 to the latest v2.0.5.1 - everything went like clockwork for the most part, and the XOOPS core and inbuilt modules transported without a hitch. Thanks guys, awesome work!

The major problem though is WF-Sections. The old v1 data is still there (I had a html box with a link to an article and that works), but the new WF-Sections (latest I could find and according to the xoops_version file it's v 1.2 - xoops_version.php,v 1.2 Date: 06/01/2003, Author: Catzwolf) it doesn't recognise the old categories, or see any of the articles.

Myphpadmin shows content;

xoops_wfs_article Browse Select Insert Properties Drop Empty 76 743.8 KB
xoops_wfs_category Browse Select Insert Properties Drop Empty 5 4.6 KB
xoops_wfs_comments Browse Select Insert Properties Drop Empty 658 181.4 KB
xoops_wfs_files Browse Select Insert Properties Drop Empty 0 1.0 KB

I can see the articles under Article Management - everything else though is blank. All files are chmod correctly but when I try and create one of the old categories under Section management nothing happens except the browser's 'done' message and a blank white screen.

Any ideas please folks??

You have your wfsection backed up right, wingz? Drop your tables that you added your articles into in your MySQL database, then go to your wfsection and create directory names that match your old wfsection directories. Then reupload the articles again so that they will go to the categories that they are supposed to. You should make sure that the categories in your table match exactly with what they looked like in your old wfsection table.

Yup, all backed up alright. It appears that the module is suspect - downloaded as v1.0.1, the bottom of the admin page says v1.0b6 and the xoops_version file says v1.02. Catzwolf's site is still down so any links to forums there are lost - says a lot about centralising everything to do with XOOPS here, doesn't it?

If re upload the articles, I'm going to lose the comments, which are probably just as important as the articles themselves.

I added an edit to the last message. Can't create or edit sections at all.

Right now I'd be happy to migrate it all to Xoops' own sections module, but I can't see how that would/could be done.

Can't you add the comments back into the database too?

Thanks JackJ .. would appreciate that. Now that I've uninstalled the module, I've lost all the data - now to try and retrieve that relevant tables from a 17 meg sql file .. aaaarrgghh!

Poor Wingz! This time take out all the stuff for wfsection and save it in a new text file just in case.

I lied. It's a 33 meg sql file. Any'ow, I've done that and grabbed the bug-fixed version. The install now baulks and won't. I guess the bottom line is there is no upgrade path from a v1.3.10 edition of wfsection to the current version. Would have been nice to know that before I started . Bugger.

Hi,

There are many DB changes from the version you had to the version that you upgraded to. It is not just a case of deleting the old files and replacing them with the new ones.

Before I help you with this, I need to know if you ran the update.php script that came with that version of WF-Sections or not? By the sounds of it, you have not and that could be the reason that you are having these problems right now.

I have tested just about every upgrade you could have with that script and I have found it to be about 99% bang on.

I will open the support site again for everyone. Sorry but I had planned to do a major upgrade with it but due to the work that I am doing at the moment with Xoops, never got the chance

Yep. Firstly I ran the XOOPS upgrade, and pre-loaded all the modules, including wfsection, assuming that the XOOPS upgrade would run all those scripts - seemed to except for this one.

After I deleted and then re-installed wfsection, and restored the db files, the ran the update script I got this;

Finish update

Interesting sidelights. All other modules show up fine with /modules/xyz ... and show their respective index.php pages. with wfsection, the /modules/wfsection just shows blank. Manually add index.php to the address URL and bingo, up it pops! Weird.

Also, the files are there, the categories are there, but there are no articles listed in any of the categories/sections. As I think I mentioned earlier, some of it seems to have worked OK, some of it not.
