Hi guys

Can someone point to me a detailed step by step guide to move my XOOPS from local to a host?

I?ve already try to look on this forum but only found one topic.
I?m really afraid of messing up my customization

Thanks in advance,
Wilson

Make a Database on the host.
Install Xoops

Make a backup of your local database (I found out that sometimes a gzipped backup does not work, so maybe it is best to make a normal backup AND a gzipped)

Goto your hosts cpanel and fill the database with the backupfile you made (choose for sql queries and then browse, so you browse on your own computer. Double click on the backupfile of your local database)

Copy all your local XOOPS files EXCEPT the mainfile.php to your host.
Check the permissions (these tend to change sometimes)

Enjoy

Well when I look into your face, I can see that you are not dumb, just a newbie.

The mainfile contains the data for access to the database and XOOPS virtual and physical root path.
If you copy the mainfile of your local XOOPS to your host, you will see a blank page when you go to your site.
There are allready enough people who made this experience a few times (including me) and I tell you, it scares the s... out of you

Have a look at both the files, then you can see what I mean.
Success
