If a users makes a account then, they see the forums as threaded, and if the click flat it goes flat

how do i make flat a standard instead of threaded i get lots of replys on my forum about this

I found that in the table xoops_users

you have the row umode
iwch holds: flat and nest

and now i set the default value to flat, but this does not work

First, check the default comments mode setting in "System" -> "Preferences" -> "General Settings" and change it to Flat. This takes care of new registrations.

For the current members of your site, they can control which way to view forum / comment posts by changing the "Comment Display Mode" in "Edit Account" within the User Menu.
