where's admin?

Just installed 2.0.5.1 on Linux, MySQL 3.23.38.

See http://www.xorchids.com/xoops/html/index.php for result.

There is no access to admin in the menu.

Spent several hours going through this forum, etc. with no meaningful results.

No problems with the install; did the 777 thing and the db is good.

I have osCommerce going in another dir if that means anything in helping solve the problem.

Am a newbee to XOOPS but not to php, etc.

Any suggestions?

Dave

Have you logged in using the account you created during the install procedure? If so, that should give you a user menu with an Administration link to the admin side.

When I log in using admin it thanks me for logging in, then pops me back to the original page.

I used "admin" as my admin ID; is that a problem?

Probably your firewall software blocking the HTTP Headers that your site's cookie needs to check if you are logged in or not. Add your site to the trusted sites of your firewall software, and it'll work

I doubt that's the problem since osCommerce is running through the firewall, although it may be since you know way more about this than I do.

I might as well start digging into the code and see what makes this thing tick. My objective is to intergrate XOOPS with an OO version of osCommerce that I am working on, so I'll have to dig into the code anyway.

Thanks for your time and help,

Dave

I have exactly the same problem with one of my XOOPS installs. I thought it was initially related to the latest version of the software but I installed the same version that I have running 'successfully' on another openbsd server and still have problems.

The install works but when I log in as admin I don't get the admin menu - just the home page.

I can't figure it out. Definatly nothing to do with cookies/headers or firewalls.

Does anyone have an answer for this?

Are you logged in though when you get directed back to the main page? Are you logged in as admin and just can't see the link in the user menu?

I have two XOOPS sites running one on openbsd and one on linux. Both are running xoops-2.0.5a

When I log into the linux box the username/password is accepted and there is no link to the admin menu. When I manually type in admin.php it says I'm not authorized. I don't have this problem on openbsd.

Are you sure that you are using the same admin username and password that you used to install 2.0.5.1? You can try checking your groups_users table and make sure your userid is listed with the groupid of 1. 1 is the webmasters group.

Hi All,

Just FYI, I have been facing the same problem on v1.3.10. I have the following env:

Redhat 9 2.4.20-20.9
php-4.2.2-17.2
httpd-2.0.40-21.5
mysql-3.23.58-1.9

Install seemed to go well, followed instructions for changing permissions, etc.

Logging in as admin just returns to the same page with no admin menu.

I downloaded and installed xoops-2.0.5 on the same system and it seems to work fine (unfortunately xoopsforge doesn't:(
