How does one creates the "Welcome to XOOPS official website!" block similar to XOOPS.ORG site?

I tried create a new block from the admin menu in the block section but I could not get the same result.

Re: Welcome block?

All you do is create a center block in blocks admin and type in your message then set the weight of the block to 0 so that it shows at the top of your front page above all other blocks. Then go to groups and make sure the block is visible to everyone, unless you only want registered users to see it.

This is what I did for my site and it worked great - this is a great feature.

There's another feature on the XOOPS site that I'd like to emulate and I'm not completely sure how it's done.

Under General Information, if you click the "Overview" menu, you get a center page with a block of HTML text and an image that is nicely framed with a border. How is this done. Since there is no "Overview" module/block, I'm assuming there is some customization done somewhere. What do you need to do to create this custom block/module and link it to a menu?

you can use tiny content or free content modules. also XOOPS just upgraded a module that is designed for items such as about us, disclaimers and so on: https://xoops.org/modules/news/article.php?storyid=1117

You can create an html page and decorate the page with a background image if you want it to look fancy, then put in your words. Then you can use pagewrap with free content or tiny content to intregrate your created html page into the xoops. You could make your page look exactly like the one in the overview on this site if you want.

you can then create a custom block with links if you like.

check out Professional Info block on my site. the first 2 links are links created using free content. hope this does not confuse you.

I noticed that the html does not work when created new block. I tried various content type from the pull down menu but no go. Any suggestion how I could fix this? Currently, I am using XOOPS version 2.0.5.1.
