Agreed. That is the ONLY reason why I haven't introduced XOOPS into our organization yet.

Is there an LDAP hack available for XOOPS 2.x?

There is an LDAP hack (written by me ) for 1.3.4. I don't have any idea about differences between 1.3.4 and 2.0.5, but this hack for 1.3.4 may give you some clues, and you may write your own hack for 2.0.5. You can download it from here

I am very interested in LDAP in XOOPS as well. I have hacked the XOOPS 2 to do LDAP authentication for our site already. All it really does is log in to the ldap tree to verify the user and then updates the MySQL user table with the current ldap information if it is different. I would be interested in discussing further a good way to integrate LDAP into xoops. You can count me as a friend of XOOPS and ldap.

I'm in the same boat. My want is to be able to authenicate to LDAP, and draw down what 'groups' the user belongs in at the LDAP level. I would then configure XOOPS to use these groups to assign security privs like view/read/write/admin/etc.

This would provide a very powerful system.
