How can I insert news on the mainpage so that anyone can read it?
I want news in the middle of the mainpage.

If you set the 'start module' option in the preferences to 'news', then the news module will display on the main page like on this site.

Also, in the Admin Area, give the anonymous group and the registered users group (and any other groups you like) permission to read the news module.

the problem I am having is it says that news is in my main page http://www.shevlinfamily.com/warbirds

yet when someone submits news and i approve it, it just seems to disappear into the lost news land. I can't find it, it won't go to the home section. I have no idea...
and now I'm so frustrated I'm ready to scream

GimpHawk,
Does any news show up on your page? If not, in System Admin | Blocks, is your News Block set to "Visible"?

News News Active (In Home) All Visitors [ Edit | Deactivate | Put in Home

visible to all visitors... (in modules) it does't even show it in blocks..
Articles also don't post in topics... tried to post stuff there too... I put in add story, click on the topic, check the box for associated topic, type something in the story part, click on submit, blah blah and when I go to topics... nothing says no news for this topic... It's driving me nuts, I know I'm a newb, but I've looked at every option in the admin menu and I can't seem to get either of those to show up
:(
