A friend of mine went to my site yesterday and discovered something rather intresting: it didn't work. Yep, XOOPS isn't connecting to the database any more because my host switched all their stuff from Ensim to cpanel and ruined the connection apparently. So, being the Xoops/Jedi Master that I am, I have no idea what to do. I went to the mainfile to chance the database path and that didn't work so I think I'll have to try something else.

Original db name: domainname_com_-_site
new db name: domainname_com

Just in case you have any ideas. Well that is why today stinks. Maybe it will get better. Hopefully. Now on to attack on my website.

changing the database credentials in mainfile.php is the way to go, but the username / password may have changed as well during the switch, in Cpanel there is a MySQL database manager which will list all the database on your machine and any users assigned to those dbs. Cpanel usually prefixes any dbs and db users you create with your login name, so if your login is "domain" and your db is called "xoops" Cpanel will create it like so: domain_xoops

I hope this helps

Yeah, that had actually just popped in my head just before I read this haha. I just noticed there were no users, so I'll have to go make some users and edit somethings. Thanks for the help. Hopefully that will put me on the path to fixing this thing, rather than screaming at the monitor like in that commercial.

Update on my progress:

Well I had to change the path to XOOPS as well and that seemed to do the trick. It got me a blank page rather than a page of code. Now I know why. When they moved my database, they installed something from forever ago.

So I reinstalled a back up from about 7 days ago. No data is different so there isn't a big deal with the 7 day time difference. And....

....it works. :) Thanks for the help ackbarr.
