How about a Module that will allow a user to Add RSS news feeds?

http://www.hexamail.com/news2web/feeds.htm

There are plenty of Free News Feeds that one could add and with the correct formatting they will display without any problems.

Using http://www.mouken.com/rss/manual/ I have been able to format these feeds for other web sites, it would be nice to be able to have this done with XOOPS, or a module that will allow you to select from different news feeds.

Anyone like the idea?

There is a module called "xoopsheadlines" included in the XOOPS package. This module does exactly what you need

We have determined that my web hoster has the URL command disabled. Does anyone know of away other than pasting my news stories manually, that I can get around this?

Hello,

I wanted to use the following and simply Add Blocks of news, using PHP script and details, this allows you to set what is displayed and the format of the display. Carp is really pretty good.

http://www.mouken.com/rss/

The problem I found is that the Blocks of PHP did not display properly.

I was talking to Catz the other day about the RSS issue... Maybe some improvements are in order.

The other issue, with servers disabling remote file access, is not fixable I think. I spent a long time trying to get round that for a different project, with no success.

What would be desirable is better error catching of that issue in the xoopsheadlines, or new rss module.
