Hi,

i'm currently using Xoops 1.3.10.

It works perfectly, but we are now with php 5.x and 1.3 is not compatible with php 5.
So, i'm looking to migrate.

But i haven't found anything about migrating from 1.3 to 2.x...

Can anyone give me some help or tips with that ?

Regards.

Some old instruction for XOOPS 2.02 said:

Quote:
Upgrade from XOOPS 1.3.x
1. Download the full package, unpack it and upload all files included (some files will be overwritten).
2. Point your browser to /install/index.php to start the installer. The installer will automatically detect your 1.3.x and upgrade to 2.0.1. Please read docs/INSTALL.html for details on installation

I don't have access to 2.0.1, but maybe you can try 2.0.13, and see if it can upgrade your version to 2.0.13. If it works, then you can should be able to upgrade to XOOPS 2.5.6.

Of course, do the tests locally to see if it works, and NOT on your production site!!!

Let us know if it worked!

Hi,

i reply a long time after, but upgrading from is not a problem. I'll try to upgrade to a recent version of xoops, because 2.0 is making some blank fields (i think it's an issue with php 5.4).

Something you probably don't really want to hear but...

Chances are that your installation is too old to update easily.

You will spend a LOT of time trying to get it updated and you would be better off just starting from scratch to 2.5.7.

What kind of site is it, how many modules do you have installed and how much would you lose if you just started fresh?

I'm wanting to upgrade forum-pc.net.

I've realized the upgrade, but my blank fields where not a php or xoops issue : it's a data encoding issue ! (tables are in latin1 and need to be converted to utf8).

Take a look at this link, if I'm unserstanding you correctly you need to convert an intire database setup and existing tables from lation to utf8.
