I have replaced half of the figures with tinypng files
When I take a backup on arvixe I see I won 3513kb
not much for a lot of work

The savings that you get are not important for the hard disk space, but for the time it takes to download it for the users.

If you want to make your site very responsive to the users, you should minimize the size of your images, while keeping the quality.

So don't see it as wasted time or effort, but as a good investment to make your visitors more happy!
