Hey there,

I am working on a media website for DJ's/producers by DJ's/producers and I am looking on how to embed several third party links on our forum.

I am using X-Forum by the way.

On several websites, such as e107, phpnuke, vBulletin and so on, you can use the [soundcloud]text[/soundcloud] bb-code which, after adding your comment or topic, it shows the soundcloud track/set on the forum.

I was wondering how to do this in xoops / x-forum.

Ofcourse I can tell the registered members to use the html tag, but most people don't know how that works.

So .. help :P

I'm also looking on how to use the Mixcloud bbcodes I've seen on sites.

Thanks.

It would be great to have a simple way to include external content like video or for instance soundcloud on a xoops forum, but is using bbcode (not userfriendly) the way to go? I rather would like a simplified editor with buttons for the kind of content your users can add, providing a popup to add the url to. The way it works in Facebook would even be better, just paste a link in your text and FB converts it to an embed!

That would be nice, but how to do it ?
I mean, I know my way around in css and html, but not everything, far from that.
I am more of a graphical designer to fit the needs of my clients.

!! tell me, tell me, tell me !!

anyone ?

I know that the [DHTML form with xCode] editor when creating a new topic has several 'popup' features, such as add an image by link, youtube and more. Would be nice to have a Soundcloud feature next to it as well.

I just can't seem to find the code that needs to be inserted just like the Youtube code. Maybe I'm using the wrong keywords in google search. I'm pretty sure it's the same code as in phpnuke, vbulletin etc, but yah, I just can't find the proper code. So if anyone could help, that would be pretty nifty :)

There is a github project adding a souncloud button to tinymce. Maybe you can hack it in the xoops tinymce editor?

You would have to hack the Core by writing a new plugin for the TextSanitizer. Look how it is done in YouTube:

/class/textsanitizer/youtube/youtube.php

If only the Admin is entering the info, then going with TinyMCE as suggested by Flipse might be a better option.
