New to Xoops and having some concerns that I wished to ask about.. Downloaded 2.5.1a edition and when I extract files I'm getting 3 folders Docs, extras, htdocs, with 2 checksums. Is this normal with this edition.

Also following the instructions from pages 1and 2 , 2.5.1a already has a frameworks folder . My question is, Is frameworks already part of this core or do I still need to follow directions regarding adding frameworks..

Thanks from the newbie

First, welcome to XOOPS!

1) yes, it is normal. For your Website you're using only the content of /htdocs directory

2) You're OK with the Framework that is part of your XOOPS download.

If anyone can help me. I got up to Day 5 - Almost Live! Most of the installation was successful but It failed to create a new database.

Please follow the XOOPS Installation Guide and you should be OK.

If you cannot create a database, you might have an issue with the connection or with permissions. Make sure that you can connect to the database from the browser (e.g. by testing it with phpMyAdmin)

Hello,

I also am having a little bit of a problem with creating a database, I have followed the Installation Guide carefully and I can't see anywhere where I might have gone wrong. I think it might be the permissions, how would I go about sorting that problem?

Two possibilities:

1) You can try to create the database before you start installing XOOPS

2) You can try to go back in your browser one step, and then try again. It happened to me recently that I got an error and when I went back, and tried again, it worked. I guess, the database was not created instantly and there was a delay.
