Frequent PHP Fatal Error in Newbb/CBB

Perhaps someone can help me figure out what is going on here. I frequently see this in my error logs.

PHP Fatal error: Call to undefined function newbb_getsession() in /modules/newbb/include/vars.php on line 190


It's always the same error on the same line.

Any ideas as to what could be causing this?

What version of PHP and Newbb/CBB are you using?

We have here CBB 3.08 and it runs without any problems.
