Since:

I made this patch for easy upgrade from news module 1.63 to 1.64 by uploading modified files only instead of upload whole module ( 22MB ).

just overwrite modified files then update news module from admin panel.

I'm slow I didn't know there was a 1.66. does it work this way too? i have XOOPS version 2.3.0

thanks, i'll have my tech upgrade my XOOPS and then install

i've never done this before so bear with me

is the upgrade as easy as uploading to my ftp, overwrite the files then go to admin panel, install and update? and all my news items will still be there?
