I installed through Fantastico, it went ok obviouly,

Then two warnimgs about _lib and _data I lost the home page moving the files to a different folder when asked to chmod a different file.

Funny thing is after moving the first two the warning continued even though I moved into a new directory in public _htm.

For rename instead of move I would'nt know what to call them. I am totally new to Xoops.

Till I know about the two files, and the chmod which I did change then lost the homepage I won't install another XOOPS just yet. I had to uninstall due to no home page and no way back .

rosata, Welcome to the XOOPS forum!

You have to move the two directories (if possible) outside the web root. This is to the directory where your public _htm is in.
For renaming, just put 4 random letters and/or digits in front of the name.
You have to alter the definitions in mainfile.php accordingly. (Beware to lift the readonly of mainfile.php!)
