I installed XOOPS Version 2.4.3 with very few issues, although I cannot figure out where the system is loading the favicon.ico pic.

I placed/replaced every one I could find, but am unable to change the icon.

WHERE IZZIT? hehehehehe

hi'

You have to clear your browsers cache and if necessary :
• remove link from favorites
• restart your browser/computer (very difficult with IE to exorcise an old ico !)

Normally, XOOPS would use the favicon.ico file found in your XOOPS root directory.

However, I seem to recall that a different version may be used if you're using either the morphogenesis or zetagenesis themes. However, this could be complete hogwash on my part

Some browsers are fussier than others about the size of file used for favicon.ico - easiest way to make sure it works is to make a 16 x 16 pixel .gif file and then rename it. Always works for me

Well thanks for the replies.. But I'm not really a noob with browsers.. Clearing the cache was the first thing I tried.

I actually placed an .ico file in EVERY dir and still the only place the (correct)icon shows is in the admin menu...

I am using a 3rd party theme however. "zetabordeaux"
Any chance that its loading from the directories not in my XOOPS path? (the secure directories)

defined in the xometas.html file. it could be in themes/zetabordeaux/icons/favicon.ico

Thanks for the responses.
As it turns out it isn't the favicon.ico file placement at all. As its seen during the page load, but changed to the standard XOOPS image afterwards..

It was the icon.png file that was loading after the favicon file..
here: /themes/default/icons/
All is well..

Using the xoosla theme, the file containing the icon (favicon) is /themes/xoosla/xotpl/xohead.html. Here's the confusing part. In the file there are two lines:

<link rel="shortcut icon" type="image/ico" href="<{xoImgUrl icons/favicon.ico}>" />
<link rel="icon" type="image/png" href="<{xoImgUrl icons/icon.png}>" />

Normally, we would think that the "favicon.ico" line is the one showing the favicon. It's not! It's the one right underneath that, the "icon.png" line.
