New to XOOPS - Need Help Installing

Hello, I am new to XOOPS and need help with the installation. Sorry if my request seems elementary, but I was wondering if anyone has the steps from setting up a WAMP5 environment, and then installing XOOPS to be able to start building a web site. I've read over the v2.3 installation guide, but with the new version out, does anyone have info on how to install v2.4??

OR, if anyone has the steps they used to install any version of XOOPS that works for them, PLEASE HELP!! I'd really like to use any version, just as long as I can get it to work!! :)

As far as editing the content and such, I had a friend tell me about MASTOP Publish, but that didn't seem to work out too well, so is there anything that will work in its place?? Or maybe it didn't work because I didn't have XOOPS installed correctly, don't know?!?

I really appreciate your help and information. Looking forward to hearing from you EXPERTS!! Thanks!!

Hi,

1. correct me if i'm wrong but if i'm not mistaken the installation method of 2.3x and 2.4x is the same..eg just put XOOPS in htdocs and runhttp://localhost/xoopsfolder/

2. .what version of mastop_publish are you using ? it suppose to be working..

Yes, the installation of 2.3 and 2.4 are basically the same. However, I'm having a hard time with installing the PHP-MySQL-Apache environment and making it work. I get to the last step of the XOOPS installation and it says it cannot find the database.

As far as Mastop Publish is concerned, I tried to download from their site (English version), but the download I installed as a module in XOOPS kept giving me errors. What is a good link to download from that will work?? Thanks in advance.

I'm trying to run everything locally on my computer and not upload to a web server until I have a finished web site. I do understand thehttp://localhost/xoops... heirarchy, but just can't seem to get past the errors with Mastop Publish and utilize the PHP-MySQL-Apache environment.

Think I need a step-by-step, from STEP 1!! hahaha Thanks again for your help!!

What errors did you got?
Set also debug on in system general preferences.

If you still have troubles with your local webserver, try XAMPP.

Although these tutorials were made with XOOPS 2.0x - the method of installation is still the same (I will get around to updating them when I get the time).

Hi, i've installed latest version of XOOPS which is 2.4.3, and download the mastop publish ad put in module dir.
Unfortunately it doesn't appear at the module administration (to be installed).
So how would i install mastop publish then?

make sure the folder structure

is in root/modules/mastop_publish/


from where did you download mastop ?

Yes, where did you download Mastop Publish from?? I tried from their web site, but could only do the non-English version, and found an older version which would install as a module but give me errors (which I will post next time).

I'll try and installation method in the link provided.

Thanks everyone for the info and support!! Hopefully I'll have good news next time I post!!

Don't know where you were looking, but the archives here (zip) do contain english language files.

hi, i did get the file from the website suggested above by ghia
and i did put the file in root/module/mastop_publish.
but still it doesnt detect..
so how?
