What is your local AMP?
Some servers have reserved directories for placing outside root PHP files, so simply moving to C:/AppServ/xoops_lib and C:/AppServ/xoops_data may not work. The operation requires always two actions: moving the folders and adapting the definitions in mainfile.php

C:/AppServ/www/xoops/xoops_lib
C:/AppServ/www/xoops/xoops_data

It should be like this:
C:/AppServ/www/xoops (folder)
C:/AppServ/www/xoops_lib (file)
C:/AppServ/www/xoops_data (file)

You should cut - paste the files before the installation.

what do you mean by (file)?

xoops_lib and xoops_data are just folders.

The instructions of gtop00 are wrong.
They are moving the folders from the XOOPS root to the Web root, which is still inside the web root and therefore the error message is still valid.

You have to move them so they are aside /web/ (or in a subfolder of a folder that is aside of /web/).
See my example in post #11
Other possible paths are:
C:/AppServ/xoops_trust/xoops_data
C:/AppServ/xoops_trust/xoops_lib

You should put all(xoops_data and xoops_lib) in
C:/AppServ/www/myTrusted/ map(for example)

I even recommend you, that if you are planing to have more installation of XOOPS on your local server to organinize files like
C:/AppServ/www/xoops01/html ( for all system files)
C:/AppServ/www/xoops01/mytrusted ( here put xoops_data and xoops_lib, then protector module...)

C:/AppServ/www/xoop02/html ( for all system files)
C:/AppServ/www/xoop02/mytrusted ( here put xoops_data and xoops_lib, then protector module...)

.
.
etc

Hope it helps

No, the instructions are wrong!

It has to be OUTSIDE the WEB ROOT!

Ok. But why to do it so "agressive". May be it will be easy to put in the form while install sometning like this

/home/mysite.com/trustfolder/xoops_data
/home/mysite.com/trustfolder/xoops_lib

So then - there is not neccessary to make all that operations.

Will it work or not?
