How do I define a own home page

Hey,
I'm new in XOOPS and i'm having a little problem.
My home page is blank and so I thought, I just could change the system_homepage.html and the page would change. But obviously, I was wrong and nothing happened.
I guess it's a newbie mistake, but I'd be glad if someone could help me.

Bloedhren, Welcome to the XOOPS forum!

Update the system module (admin - modules - update).
Other Possibility is to define a custom block.
